the wonder of a Highgate cake shop It was not so much a holiday as a marathon - meeting friends, travelling to Hampshire, to the Isle of Wight, to Surrey. Stayed in a converted Chapel and in a caravan, Bluebells delayed by volcano, went to an all-night election party, did crosswords, rocked babies, had family lunches and dinner with friends in old favourite gastro-pubs. Trawled through charity shops and car-boot sales, bought the usual collection of old plates and useless gadgets, drank a lot, ate healthy carrot cake, waited for a delayed flight at Stansted - in short: it was just lovely to be in England.

Alles Liebe Karin

  3. Oh Ilse! You've made me really REALLY want to go to England again. I think I'll make my husband take a look at their job market again. As much as I like Germany, it's not really ME. On the other hand, the realm of products entitled Curiously Strong Mints IS. Very very much.
