I am having my carbonara phase at the moment: so good I made it twice, last night for dinner and then sneakily for me all alone, at lunchtime. Instead of the classic spaghetti I used pappardelle, and as I am saying the words "pappardelle alla carbonara" I can see John Cleese cavorting in his underpants in "A fish called Wanda". Very funny film. And a very easy dish to make: fry two spring onions, a clove of garlic and some bacon or ham. Put the pan aside while boiling your pasta. Beat two eggs with pepper, parmigiano and a bit of single cream. The pasta goes in the pan and the eggy stuff on top. Let it set with the lid on while preparing the salad. Enjoy with more parmesan.
Before I am off "into town" for a drink with the girls, here is a sample of my writing tools, inspired by a blogmate. Which I hardly ever use any more - Blogging killed the diary... But if I do write, the fine point Stabilos are my favourites, the Pelikan pen is pure nostalgia.
