One gets very close to the weather in the country, and it's easy to take heavy rain quite personal after a while. But on Sunday, the favourite niece came for a family visit. So I baked a chocolate and pear cake. Until we moved I had been able to buy it from my lovely deli just down the road. Now, down the road is a farm where we get milk directly from the cow, nothing else. I concocte this recipe from various sources: beat 4 eggs with 125g sugar. Add 150g soft butter, beat some more. Grate 50 g or so chocolate into the mix, then 2 large spoonfuls of good cocoa mixed with 300g flour and half a packet of baking powder. Drape the peeled pears over the dough and bake for about 30 minutes at 180°. And finally, today we were now connected digital satellite TV.
