S. and I managed to see the Gerhard Richter exhibition on its last day. Very impressive big colour works, but the ones I loved were small glass lacquer paintings - so accidentally intricately captivating. We discussed the price of being a successful painter, with all those square miles of canvas and tons of oil paint. But then again, one of the books showed a touching foto of Richter painting standing on a wobbly chair. We took our refreshments in the lush green Hofgarten gardens.
