So, apart from cooking her food - which is a time-waster at the best of times, when she claims she is not hungry - I had to hunt down the local TV lord begging for a new pair of earphones, which took three working days. Plus there is the endless rounds of visitors that need to be given coffee etc. - all these things that don't even count as "caring". Last night she lay on her bed "I don't think I can eat anything", only to ask, five minutes later "haven't you got anything for me?". I have a feeling she isn't ready just yet for the long good-bye. And I think of my sister whose motto in life is: I want to outlive my mother.
I went for a lovely long walk, bidding good-bye to the oppressing fog and a big hello to the sun.
So, I made her a quick batch of her favourite biscuits. Job done.
These are my Mum's favourite biscuits, easy to make, easy to eat, following the 3:(flour) 2:(butter)1:(sugar) formula and topped with a lemon icing.
